“And you? When will you begin that long journey into yourself?” ― Rumi WOMEN OF THE WORLD
We want to make a difference in the world, and feel the best way to do that is by empowering women to be in their own ultimate feminine power, engaging with the world. WE ARE Powerful, Loving, Connected, Courageous, Strong, Intuitive, Nurturing, Divinely Feminine, Goddess, Mother, Sister, Wife, Lover...we ARE the change OUR world so badly needs. |
SelfDiscovery“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” Aristotle Knowing leads to understanding which leads to wisdom. We must first know that which we seek to understand, and understanding your core values, beliefs, needs, and desires helps create the foundation from which to make the most of life's most challenging choices or events. It is a journey that starts today and lasts a lifetime. Aristotle was right about the beginning of all wisdom. Is today the day for you to begin? There are so many pathways from which to draw upon: spiritual, psychological, physical, metaphysical, scientific. From ancient traditions to modern discoveries, the basic question that ensues from most of us at one point in our lives is...
"Your life began as most, at the beginning, but somewhere along the way, you lost sight of where you were going." |
"Happiness and self-acceptance go hand in hand. In fact, your level of self-acceptance determines your level of happiness. The more self-acceptance you have, the more happiness you'll allow yourself to accept, receive and enjoy. In other words, you enjoy as much happiness as you believe you're worthy of [emphasis added]." ― Robert Holden, Happiness Now! |
Acceptance and EsteemWhat is self-esteem? "Self-esteem is how we value ourselves; it is how we perceive our value to the world and how valuable we think we are to others. Self-esteem affects our trust in others, our relationships, our work – nearly every part of our lives. Positive self-esteem gives us the strength and flexibility to take charge of our lives and grow from our mistakes without the fear of rejection." Here's the caveat. The way to build self-esteem is to challenge ourselves and when we achieve even a modicum of success we feel good about ourselves. We build our self-esteem muscles. Its the only way. When we receive ill-deserved praise, we intuitively know it, and it has the opposite effect, creating narcissists and entitlement. (That's a blog post for sure.) Humans need challenges and it is by taking on these challenges that we grow our self-esteem. With unconditional self-acceptance of one's total being, we embrace all facets of the self - shadow and light, the good, the bad, the ugly, even fat thighs or a too-self-serious nature. (You know who I'm talking to.) One of the keys to achieving radical self-acceptance is to understand the hierarchy of your being.

“At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.” Lao Tzu
Love
Self Love ultimately leads to Self Care. The Buddhists have an understanding that Compassion must include the Self. Oneness necessitates including Self or it is not true Compassion. We can get so busy caring for others that we often forget to include ourselves in the Love & Care that we dole out every day. Learn to care for, nurture and respect your own heart FIRST, and then the love you have to share will be available to those you love tenfold. If not, the seeds of resentment, anger and betrayal will find fertile ground in a heart that can't help but water those sorry seeds with emotionally desperate and exhausted bodies, swirling negative thoughts and depleted spirits.
